Sugars and Carbs
Just wondering - what is your favorite dessert?
My very own is without a doubt, hands down, no questions….a Tiramisu.
I just love everything about it; the sweetness, the sponginess, the
creaminess, the hint of coffee and liquor flavor…OMG…truly heavenly!!!

From an evolutionary point of view, the fact that we love sweets and
are drawn to desserts makes perfect sense.
Why?
Because every cell in our body derives its energy from a sugar called glucose.
We need glucose to live, and glucose is sweet. Therefore, nature in its infinite
wisdom arranged so that we are subconsciously attracted to “the taste which keeps
us alive”.
We, Humans derive our glucose from plants.
In the plant kingdom, anything that contains glucose also contains fiber that
moderates its entry rate into the blood stream. Natural and unprocessed sources
of sugars that are consumed with their fiber content are called whole carbs.
The consumption of whole carbs helps to maintain a balanced level of blood
sugar and a uniform level of satiety over time. Fruits, potatoes, sweet potatoes,
and unprocessed grains are whole carbs that provide an excellent source of energy.
